2014 The Fourteenth Day
We were both up by 6 and on the road by 7.  We needed to make Cyrill’s by 10 so Aaron could return the rentals by 1:00 in Paris, 45 minutes away.
There were four granny gear climbs within the first 4 kms.  This was the same road that we took leaving Cyrill’s.  A lot looked familiar.  There were several long stretches of fixed gear cycling where we made great time.  Just when 10:00 looked like a sure thing, we ran into a road closure.  They had fenced off a large ditch stretching across the entire road.  The fence extended into the forest on each side.  We forced the bikes through the brush and lifted them over the ditch and then we were off with added urgency.  I ran a red light and received a finger wagging from the local police.
We arrived a little passed 10:30.  The bike and trailer were quickly thrown into the car and they were off.  Agnes and I spent a nice quiet two hours waiting for their return.  Aaron had to pay an extra 20 euros for the broken trailer.
Agnes then set out a lunch of salmon, potatoes, and spinach puree.  Talk about eating well!
In the evening, Aaron and I treated them to dinner.  They chose a Turkish restaurant where we all chose lamb.  Cyrill picked out an excellent wine that complimented the food perfectly.
